Circular No 482

Newsletter for alumni of The Abbey School, Mt. St. Benedict, Trinidad and Tobago, W.I.
Caracas, 29 January 2011 No.482
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Friends,
From here on, I shall be resending the old Circulars to complement your emails.
There has been a slow down on new information, I presume that all of you might have run out of time and or remembrances.
No worry, the Circular is ready to publish your DUES for this year.
-------------------------------------------------------------------.
Newsletter for past alumni of The Abbey School, Mt. St. Benedict, Trinidad and Tobago, W.I.
Caracas, 1 of December 2001. Circular No.2
Dear friends,
I have checked the email address and corrected those that have been left undelivered, so I hope this second circular has better luck.
The bulletin msb mount inside 6407, year 1964, month July, starts at page p01, so if you missed any please ask for the missing pages.
I have the following names that maybe someone can give me a clue as the email address, whereabouts, Form V graduation date, nickname, and any information that might be useful to be used for the index that will appear in the reviewed web page.
The column published by Wayne is last in the attachment so please open it manually. He has interesting viewpoints on general world affairs and he is one of the select few that lived a special time in a special place and was our classmate. I hope that he does not mind my sending it to you.
God Bless

Hello Tony,
I was at Mount from 1953 to 1959 when I left to go to school in The States.
My brothers Brian and Donald had left a year earlier.
I presently live in Edmond, Oklahoma.
I have been enjoying the web site and thought that I would share some old photos that I had scanned in to my computer.
The web site brought back many fond memories.
Many thanks to you and Ladislao.
Best regards,
Christian

Hola Ladislao,
I really do enjoy the circulars and want to thank you for your work and commitment.
I know that it time consuming but your efforts are appreciated.
I would like to be supportive and help with the expense of the web site.
How can I help?
Let me know how much would be appropriate and where to send it.
Also, what would be most convenient cashier’s check or some other method?
Please let me know.
How are things in Venezuela?
Brian is always crying the blues.
I hope that the situation improves.
Best regards.
Christian

Hello Nigel,
Thank you for including me in your mailing list of the old photos.
I ran them through Adobe and brightened them up a bit.
I am returning to you the edited version of the photos.
I trust that you and your family are doing well.
I am retired and enjoying every minute.
I live in Oklahoma City.
The family is doing wonderfully.
Life is good.
Best regards,
Christian

I well remember Erin.
But, Pancho?  No.
I did not begin smoking until the advanced age of about 16.
So, I guess I had no reason to.
Please contact Fr Cuthbert!!

OF COURSE!
I do remember Pancho, and Mr. Tom.
But Erin - no, I don't know him.
Sounds like a character, though.

ERIN & PANCHO
Erin was the head janitor.
He worked alone for many years before his helper was hired.
Erin had a limp due to infantile paralysis and the only self defence move ever created at the Mt was named after him.
The move comprises of jamming the sharp point of your knee into the opponent's thigh muscles with all your force.
The result?!
A severe pain and debilitating limp for a good 15 minutes!
Erin lived off the Mt road just below the new Seminary on the right, in a small shack with his ever smiling Indian wife.
He was generous with his Anchor Specials if you didn’t ask him too often, as any of the smokers will tell you.
Pancho looked like his name; he would have looked even more so wearing a sombrero of course.
Contact Fr Cuthbert. He probably made out their pay checks.
Best wishes, Eden

Please help me with other of your classmates, can you remember those that were with you?
When did you graduate Form V?
Can you tell us about yourself, just a couple of lines?
I am still missing Julien Hutton. Maybe I have the name wrong?
Are there any photos or other material from your time at the MSB?

Some more thoughts by John Gioanetti
So out of the pot and into the fire.
When I returned from Australia, I started dating a girl, the same girl who had had the experiences I noted earlier with a MSB priest.
We actually used to date before as teenagers, and my parents would bring her up to MSM to see me I asked them to stop doing this as I did not want her to see me up there. Not in that environment.
Any way, she was very friendly with this Priest from Fatima, and would insist that we go to his Mass.
Her daughter loved this Priest and would rush up to him after Mass and kiss him, and the three of them would chat for quite a while.
This g/f knew the story and after months of begging I reluctantly agreed to chat with the 3 of them after Mass.
She said "Father, you know John?” He smiled. I said, “Yes we know each other very well and I hate this man.”
He looked me straight in the eye and said, "John I was stupid, there were other boys that I could not discipline and I took it out on you, I have tried to make amends for it other ways, please forgive me if you can." I shook his hand and said, “I forgive you, thank you"
I later found out how he had made amends, and in my opinion he did something that was pay back millions of times over.
He uncovered a scandal at an orphanage were children were being sexually abused and stopped it.
If it took my back, and the guilt of a Priest, to save those children so be it.
We don't pass each other with out a big hello. I photographed his family reunion last year. I have shot a few weddings where he is conducting the rites; we always have time for a friendly word.

Dear friends,
How are you??? I am starting this new way of circulars to keep you informed and send you a photo or article of common knowledge.
Since most of us are quite busy, it would be quite a shame if after all the effort we would go on for another 41 years just as if nothing has happened.
The web page is at the moment standing still but we know that Anthony Johnson is planning to actualise it soon.
Meanwhile I am going to keep you informed with a short dialog and a photo, article or whatever I can get my hands on.
Please feel free to comment and send them directly as I FW address to all who have an email address.

We at the Circular really miss him, hope that he is alive and well, I presume that he must be retired by now.
Anthony please give me a sign and a couple of lines, your classmates send you greetings.
We also would appreciate a photo so that I may include it in a future Circular.
As to Wayne Vincent Brown, you all know that he died recently, one member less in class 1960.
I presume that he would not mind now if I publish the column that he used to write at a Jamaican Newspaper.

Laszlo,
What a nice surprise.
Greetings from Jakarta.
I was good friends with his older brother Frank.
Tried to contact over the years without success.
As I remember his father was in the Insurance business and they were living in Cuba before moving to Venezuela as children.
Not sure where the family originally came from.
However, they spoke perfect English, bright boys and short time at Mount.
David was a small and tough as nails.
Never say him cry.
Salvador might be able to fill in the blanks.
Saludos

Hi salvador,
It has been a long time since I have had any contact with Mount boys who went to school during the 6 years I spent in mount.
Actually I have had more contact with the older generation like Urbano v. Fedak who I know from the German church in Caracas.
Also his brother Mathias I see often when he goes to play tennis at the Caracas sports club where I am a member.
I am also in touch with Pedro Castro, his brother Reinaldo, who is now working in the German church and Donald Goddard, whom I know from the time I worked in the oil industry for ten years in Maraven.
I do remember you and your mother and the hotel where we always used to stay when we went to Cumana.
I think I have only gone back once more when I took my wife to see where we use to live in Tunapuy, pasando Carupano where my father was a doctor.
Let me tell you a little bit about what I have been doing since I left mount (63-69) and provide some correct information since Andres Larsen did not get all the information correct.
I went to St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Canada, for one year, since my brother had gone there.
Then I followed my brother to Memorial University in Newfoundland, Canada, where I obtained a bachelors degree in geology.
From there I returned to Venezuela and worked in the Ministerio de Minas with Donald Goddard for about six months before I went back to Canada, Windsor, university in Windsor, Ontario.
There I did my masters degree in geology and my thesis was the study of the natural solar pond that exists in the island of Grand Roque in the archipelago los Roques.
In Windsor I met my wife and once I finished I left for Gottingen, Germany, where I did a PhD in geochemistry.
I returned to Venezuela and worked one year in Intevep and nine years at Maraven.
In 1991, I left Maraven and went into the wholesale jewellery business where I continue to work.
Actually, I just came back today with my wife from New York, where we attended a jewellery show.
I have a house in Boca Raton and we come and go about once a month.
I have two boys, Misha (23) and Yuri (21), they are both in university in Canada.
Misha is at York in Toronto studying economics and Yuri is in Carleton university in Ottawa studying computer science.
Misha played professional tennis until last year but that did not go too good.
When he was 12 he spent two years at the Niki Pilic academy in Munich.
I will send you pictures of him with the current Australian open champion Novak Djokovich.
With regards to the nazi name, that was the name given to my brother while in Mount and once I got there they also called me nazi.
I think it had to do with my brother speaking German, I was not that fluent at that time.
Actually my mother is German and my father Ukrainian.
The Ronnie is what my mother still calls me but my real name is Myron, a common Ukrainian name.
I am returning to Venezuela on the 9th and I will send you some pictures of the family  once I am there.
I am glad that all is going well with you and your family.
By the way, how is your mother doing?
My regards to her.
If you ever come to Florida let me know, maybe I might be here and we can get together.
All the best
Myron

Hello Nigel
"Nazi" is none other than Myron, also known as Ronnie, Lew.
He is married to a Canadian, they both are chemical engineers but he is in the precious gems business, also doing business in the Netherlands and Belgium.
He and his wife commute between Florida and Caracas.
They have two grown sons, both in college, and both, from what I understand, also majoring in chemical engineering.
Myron and his two sons are professional tennis players on the side.
In his younger days Myron and family would stay on vacations at the hotel that Salvador Coscarart's mother, Theresa, owned and ran in Cumana in eastern Venezuela.
Hope that clears things up a bit about "Nazi".
His e-mail address is mlew@cantv.net
Best regards
Andres Larsen

Circular No 480

Newsletter for alumni of The Abbey School, Mt. St. Benedict, Trinidad and Tobago, W.I.
Caracas, 15 January 2011 No.480
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Friends,
For those who have to read the Circular through the BLOG, please send me your email address, as I may not have it in my mailing contacts.
Remember that I do not have 100% of Nigel´s time, since he started working regularly.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Calling on the Circular helpers to locate the following old boys:
Sellier, Patrick,   (868) 637 4652
Neville Tanya ?????
The Circular needs your help.
In my class, I have lost two Classmates and with them their untold tales and photographic memories.
Do not wait longer, write your DUES for this year. They are only 50 words o maybe 10 sentences, jajajaj.
----------------------------------------------------------------.
Couple of lines by John Gioannetti on recollections:
Michael Torry constantly tormented me.
Finally one night as we were leaving the Study Hall I went for Michael's face with a pair of Geometry Dividers.
Thank God, Neville Tanya , caught me.
Michael and I never became friends at MSB, but he never taunted me again
We did become friends later as my neighbour and friend was Michael's Best Friend
But stop and think, I had to almost blind another boy, to receive any peace,
I hate violence and was throwing up after the incident at the thought of what I had almost done another human being.
Maybe because I was also expecting reprisals.
As for Neville Tanya,
He was the only person that ever stood up for me.
He unfortunately was only there for 1 year while I was there.
Venezuelans
My mother was born in Venezuela and came to Trinidad when she was 9, she was always proud of her Venezuelan Citizenship and never gave it up.
I even have a Venezuelan Passport.
My father’s mother is also Venezuelan
Unfortunately my mother tried to befriend the Venezuelan Boys, and let it be know my Panolness, for want a better word
Result the Trinis did not accept me as a Trini and the Panols would not either, I was in no man’s land
One carnival she invited 3 Vene home for the weekend, so they would not have to go to Mayaro
I personally did not think it was a good idea, but I had no choice.
They came to our house in Maraval.
I did not hang out with them as I had my own friends, and certainly did not want the two to meet.
After about two days, my mother decided they were making a mess of her house, and said she would ask them to leave.
I begged and begged telling her it was two more days, and just to bear it as the results would be catastrophic.
But she did it anyway.
When she asked them to leave they refused to, she threatened to call the police.
They cussed her up and left.
Pedro Coscarat was one for sure, maybe the Older Garner and or Moffie, but apart from Pedro, I can’t be certain of the others.
Well the whole Ven community took offence to this, I was probably hated more than Hugo Chavez, and now I was open season for them.
(I, your editor, had the same problem. I was told to leave my Venezuelan friends as I was not learning English; when I did it drastically, all turned sour, ed)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Neil Charles wrote:
John, I read your bad experience at the Mount and had no idea, but why didn't you tell your parents?
Most of my free time was spent in the pool doing laps or practicing on the field, we all went through some bad experiences with other students and some of the priests and staff,
Mc Intosh was the cause for me to leave the Mount, he wanted to bring back whippings and I would not stand for it.
Still interested in buying a house in Trinidad, but I am building another house for rent and planning a trip to India.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
John Gioannetti replied:
Neil, I did speak out, I spoke much.
The more I spoke out the more I got beaten.
Does anyone remember the word "Hala Bola"
My mother had a terrible temper, and I also had the brunt of it at home.
Here is an example, she one day touched the gate post backing the car out, the tiniest of scratches on the old chrome bumper.
For that I got a frozen steak in my head.
It was as if you had cut a hard boiled egg in half and crazy glued it to my skull.
You think that is the only incident?
She once went behind my brother who is 7 yrs younger than I am, I flew at her and physically attacked her.
The only time I have ever retaliated physically to either of my parents.
I told her beat me but leave him as he was only a baby. I got my wish.
I am being told about Christian charity, it was not that bad, I have hate and anger issues, I should have got involved in sports.
I have dyslexia in the worst way, so I was not a teacher’s pet
I have an odd fear of a ball flying towards my face because I cannot focus on it, guess I can’t box either
I got the shitty end at school, and vacations were as bad.
Paul Quesnel and Tony Strissiver both knew me before I went to Mount.
That first house when you look down from Mount, where Gregory and Dominic Farfan parents lived.
Isabel and Godfrey, they would take me in at holidays.
They and Joe and Maria Habib.
I used to use that valley to go to Auntie Isabel, and she would feed me because I had not had a meal in days.
I would leave Mount and go straight down to Monos.
My parents would send messages to come home for Christmas etc.
No fucking way. I was in an environment I understood and could not only survive but excel.
I never swam competitively at Mount and up to today, I hate pools.
I used SCUBA gear by the age of 9, by age 12,
I was swimming in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Grand Boca, I would easily spend 8 hours a day in open water.
By 16, I would work during holidays for a commercial diving company.
By 18, within a year of leaving Mount, I was doing Motor Racing School at Brands Hatch, driving Single Seater Racing Cars.
This was at the time the Premier Motor Racing School in the world.
I paid for my lessons with money I had won in a bet with my godfather that I could get a distinction in mathematics, and working illegally on a Student Visa, in England cleaning toilets.
I knew I had the qualifications for cleaning toilets as my head had often been used as a toilet bowl brush at MSB
Despite dropping out of school, and with no University Education. I accomplished the following:
I taught problem children who were all able to get "O" level passes in Maths, despite never having passed a maths exam before.
Every now someone come up and says, hey remember me I went to university because of you.
Every time IBM had a problem Installation, I would be called to fix and run it.
IBM personnel would come back after months of intensive training in NA and ask me to teach them.
I have taught people to use computers as a trainer and lecturer, through the Caribbean, America, and Australia.
Even taught a former teacher of mine, Tony Strissiver
I have had articles published in Computer Magazines with International Circulation based in NY, Colorado and England
I have ridden the Great Ocean Road, seen the 12 Apostles, and survived in the some very hostile environments, despite motorcycle break downs which if I could not fix using my own wits would have been a goner.
Within 3 months of teaching myself to sail I could get a berth on practically any racing boat in T&T.
I was able to take a small boat about 28ft and go up the Grenadines with only one other person.
We had neither Radio, Engine or any electricity for night time navigation crew.
At 50 I have embarked on a new career, I have started correspondence school, with the Leading Photography School.
I only handed in 2 assignments first one I got an A+, second one an A.
The school has also recently started distributing the material in a different format, based partly on my recommendations of using up to date technology.
I actually took the initiative and converted my own before they started doing it.
I now actually work for a MSB old boy, he did not hire me, an ex IBMer who is his consultant and wanted someone with both technical and artistic skills hired me.
He knows I have an extremely low shit tolerance level (He calls it a hair trigger temper).
Because of this he is kind enough to let me work at home.
I only go into the office when we need to meet and discuss something.
Paul Quesnel has put some business my way last year.
But apart from the above, I have done very well with what I have, I never asked anyone from MSB for anything except on 1 occasion.
When I got back from England, I went to MSB and asked Fr.Cuthbert for a school recommendation I because I needed it as, I was applying for a job as a programmer.
He said, why should I give you a recommendation, you were not a good student, you were not good at sports, nobody liked you.
I don't have anything good to say about you.
I told him I was a Scout and good at maths and he could check the records.
He reluctantly relented and gave me one.
You want me to be part of something, fine, but on certain ground rules.
I have the option to say what I want.
Unlike many MSB products, my self esteem comes from within, I am and never was one of the flock that needs the others to survive.
I have certainly proved that.
You people have it bass awkward (that's dyslexic for what we call non dyslexic people ASS BACKWARDS)
I have accomplished what I have accomplished, despite MSB, not because of it.
I am a Catholic, possibly one of the worst Catholics, but a Catholic, my faith is a personal thing between me and my maker.
Or basically calling me a liar or someone that exaggerates.
It’s the same thing regardless of what ever flowery words you give it.
This now become a personal issue.
Despite Cautions I am copying John Perreira, nothing here is slanderous, and I don't want Fr. Augustine’s name sullied, when in my opinion he did his best to protect me.
I am accessible to all. Nothing to hide.
Puggy (Keith Alleyne) had it right on Friday Night, when he saw me and said you still a rebel without a cause.
Puggy you impressed me, I never figured you out as such an insightful person,
Please keeping patting each other on the back, and confirming to each other what well adjusted humans you are.
You want to send me emails, go ahead. I'll read what I want and respond as I feel
Keep it in the family! Please! , this does not apply to me I have always been and will always be a loner, did not need u then certainly don't need you now, and I doubt very much if I will be invited to any more reunions,
Oh Shit what will I do with all that free time, who will I drink with? Help I am having an anxiety attack. Ok relax its over now.
Now my yardstick may be different, physical strength or having money, or high position, don't impress.
I judge by my rules, I don't give a rats ass for your rules, so I will never think like you, and you will never convert me, so this is not macho BS, but I was a bigger man at mount than any of my school mates were, I am a bigger man today.

Dear Kazim,
I just ran thru the web page.
There are five members in the actual association. Missing in the list are Dennis Gurley, lawyer, and Peter Sammy, treasurer
In the future I shall be or maybe I am the vice president or second in command, as I feel that I can be the international member but can do little in the day to day affairs.
This title does not mean anything until the papers are signed.
From various meetings, there is a need of 5000 TT to cover the Auditor who must be incorporated in the nonprofit organization.
So we are stuck for now.
I shall mention this as it would be about 1000.00 US per year, SO NO ASSOCIATION POSSIBLE FOR NOW.
Please include Sammy´s photo and title.
God bless
Ladislao

Hi Ladislao.
Sorry I could not make it for Csaba´s dinner last Thursday.
Anyway I had him and Maricarmen at home for lunch just a couple of days before.
Photo 57RB0002a2 in Circular 330 is Richard Chacon.
When I left Mount upon graduation in December 1958, he must have been finishing Form III or Form IV.
I don´t know where he was from, but he was a very close friend of Timothy Mew who was in my class.
Timothy is from BG but now lives in Australia.
Not long ago Timothy told me he had been trying to find Chacon for many years but unfortunately without success.
By the way, for quite some time all e-mails I have sent to Timothy Mew have been returned.
Do you have his new e-mail address? Thank you.
Best regards.
Ricardo Figuera (Big Figuera)
Caracas, Venezuela
----------------------------------------------------------------------------.
Ladislao,
The guy with Csaba Jacobsen is Ricardo Figuera (older brother of Pablo Figuera who was in my class of 1961).
He was the Librarian for several years under Fr Augustine's supervision.
Fr Augustine was in charge of the library on the upper floor as you may recall at the classroom level.
Does anyone know where the Figueras are?
They lived in Venezuela but were originally from Spain.
All the best

Jon,
I must stand up respond with this when it comes to a person’s character and integrity.
Fr. Augustine.
1) He never taught me as my only interest in French is to attend a "Le Mans"
2) I always considered him the Strictest but the fairest of the actual Priest.
3) I have dyslexia; reading was extremely hard for me as a child.
Despite this I developed a love of books, which has remained with me.
And like Don this became my escape at Mount.
As the sports I was good at I could only do during my vacations not at Mount (Motorcycle riding, skin and scuba diving and spear-fishing), but once again I digress.
When I first went to MSB, novels, books, newspapers and radios of any kind were banned.
If someone brought a book to MSB, Fr. Augustine had to read it first and sign it before you could read it.
I swamped the poor man with so many, Battle of Brittan, and Books of Sailing, that he just began to sign the books without even reading them.
Many a nights he caught me with a torch light under the blanket reading, or in the toilet stalls in the junior dormitory.
I even figured out a way to get out the dormitory at night and would sit and read by the soft drink machine which gave off some extra light.
He would walk by and pretend I was not there.
He always pretended I was not there, even when I had a light cigarette in my mouth.
The concrete bench outside the infirmary was an out of bounds.
He would be going to the cellar where they kept the stocks for the bursar’s office and see me reading there, when I was supposed to be at the playing field.
He would walk straight past and never say a word.
We were not allowed to talk in the junior dormitory.
I had the top bunk and a very large fat Venezuelan American named Grey, who despite his size and his ability to sweat gallons, and had some form of aversion to showers, or any form of personal hygiene.
Grey would come in at night and put his filthy shirt on my bunk.
He was easily twice my size, and I had the dubious pleasure (According to you Old Boys) of being bullied by him.
One night I just snapped, and threw his shirt across the dormitory.
Fr. Augustine saw and told me to go to his cubicle for punishment.
I waited on Fr. Augustine, he came in got the strap and prepare to administer his punishment.
I told him what had transpired.
I told him I was refusing any punishment and I did not care if I was expelled.
You never would guess what he did.
He started to spank his bed, he then told me to go out and pretend that I was crying, because if the other boys knew that he gave me a break, they would pick on me.
Now to me that's a man, a Holy Man.
That was the closest I ever got to corporal punishment at MSB.
As a by note, I went to Mount because when I was at Fatima college, my mother noticed my back after I came out the bath.
She forced me to tell how I had got the welts and black and blues all over my back and buttocks.
It was a priest that had done it.
It was the only occasion I saw my father get mad at another person.
Ironically the Priest's father used to work with my father.
I think my father may have been his boss.
----------------------------------------------------------------.
On boxing at Mount, maybe Fr.Theo?
By John Gioannetti
Do you remember the priest making people box, to air their so called differences.
We were not all boxers.
I dreaded that I would be put in that position one day.
Actually it was usually done on a Sunday night
I would make sure and hide when ever this sport was taking place.
Guess MSB did do something for me, I was extremely adept at bush craft, moving silently not being seen, and feeling comfortable in the bush at night with no light
For example, I can now creep up on animals without them running off, or stay very still till they come to me
Two Pics are attached as to how I use this skill, Note the cayman was not cropped, it wild animal, not in a zoo, and we were less than 5ft from each other
When I go out with other photographers they are usually amazed at the stealth I display despite my size.
(The photos are not included but you may imagine, ed.)

Hello Nigel,
"Nazi" is none other than Myron, also known as Ronnie, Lew.

Wonderful, Andres.
Man! Didn't the guys at Mount have strange names, eh?
Just like mine, I guess!!
Say, did you know a chap named "Nazi" during your time.
I never knew the poor guy's name, but I always called him "Nazi".
Why? I don't even know.
But he was a great fellow, and in fact, I have a photograph of him, to share:
I thought his name was "Nascimento" or something like that?
So, do you remember him?
Regards,
Nigel

Nazi,
That's how I remember you !!
It has been a real pleasure to hear from you, at one point I thought you were in Germany, and since them we never heard from you.
Probably Andrés Larsen knew but also for some time I did not see Andrés.
Me agrada si vienes a Caracas podemos vernos en algún momento.
Pronto te escribo nuevamente,

Merry Christmas . . .
As we share this time of Peace, Joy, Goodwill and Happiness, let is remember whose birthday we really celebrate, Jesus, and what he represents.
Spare a Prayer, or more if you can, for those who by circumstance, cannot celebrate. Be that circumstance family matters, financial difficulties, conflict, bereavement etc.
Just as The Virgin gave birth 2000 years ago, let us now give birth to The Saviour in our hearts, be our guiding star and banish the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse out of our hearts and minds.
Let that Light, born in the humblest of circumstance, shine in our thoughts and actions the whole year through.
Merry Christmas . . . .
God’s Blessings . . . .

Hi Angel,
the Abbey alumni is getting very interesting, I am in touch with an 'old boy' from Toronto area who is doing a data base and updates with all the past students of the Abbey so I forwarded your email to him.
There is another brother ( Venezuelan) who is coming to Montreal in early June and wants to hook up with us.
I am sure that you might know him he was there from 67-74 his name Salvador Coscarart.
Don't forget to come by my school over the weekend..Fridays from 7pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 4pm ..address 3740 De Courtrai in Côte des Neiges near the shopping mall.
I mentioned about a Martial Arts program and everyone seems to be excited about that..all for now stay well

Ladislao,
Thanks for the memories of one of the nicest men I have ever met.
I will never forget what he did for me my first day at Mount.
As I recall it was a cool breezy Saturday night, school had opened the week before but I had arrived late because of the "Asian flu".
Old boys will remember the loneliness of their first night.
I was standing on the curb just outside the Prep A classroom, facing the volley ball court.
For some reason there was no movie that night.
Everyone and their brother, and how many brother pairs have there been at Mount, was running around and having a great time.
"Brother Vincent", as usual surrounded by a gaggle of talking, laughing boys, was sitting down opposite me when he looked up and noticed I was alone (and about to bus' a cry).
He called out to me to come over.
I did not move, I was so intimidated by all of those happy, smiling faces.
He then told someone, I think it was Esmund Lange, to go over to me and bring me over to the group.
As I came over he moved aside, smiled and I can still see that smile, and motioned to me to sit down at his side.
I can't recall joining in with the old talk but every now and then he would turn and include me in the conversation.
The loneliness subsided for a little while.
What he did was pure kindness.
Nothing else.
He didn't have to do it.
He could just have smiled across the court and gone about his business and that would have been plenty.
He took the extra step and I have never forgotten that.
David
